Step 1: Obtain a Letter of Impact Assessment on the Labor Market (LMIA) of the Department of Labor and Social Development Canada (CESD)
Before applying for a Canada work visa, in most cases, a work-related impact assessment (LMIA) of the ESDC should be obtained.

If ESDC is convinced that the potential employer has made every effort to hire a local worker, “confirm” the work of the foreign worker and the letter LMIA.
Step 2: Visa application for Canadian work Once the LDC has been released by the ESDC, the foreign worker will be invited to apply for a Canadian work visa or a Canadian work permit at a Canadian consulate, embassy or high commission outside Canada. In most cases, the worker will be required to attend an interview with a visa officer. If the visa official is convinced that the employment of the foreign worker will not negatively affect employment in Canada for Canadians and that the foreign worker qualifies for the position, a Canadian work permit will be issued.Note: in some cases, candidates from some countries must undergo medical examinations.
